Billion Journey Project – on tour!

By January 21, 2020Uncategorized

Last week the Billion Journey Project team went on tour!

Our aim was to provide the scale ups involved in the current innovation programme with a chance to experience some of our operations in the real world. We delivered a packed day that enabled the team to dig deeper into both our bus and rail operations.

The morning began with a tour of the impressive Blackfriars station followed by a presentation at Southeastern’s new Control Centre to learn more about passenger information and disruption management. Afterwards we boarded one of the Thameslink Class 700s for the journey down to Brighton where we were met by colleagues from Brighton and Hove Bus.

Over at the Hove depot we visited the garages, maintenance areas and the body and trim shop before hearing presentations covering operations, commercial, sustainability and marketing.

Throughout the day the Billion Journey Project team had the opportunity to meet colleagues and to learn about our challenges at first hand.

Collaboration and making new connections are essential to driving innovation and the Billion Journey Project enables participants to get close to our business and to work in partnerships with the operating companies who deliver the billion passenger journeys that inspired this landmark programme.
